July 5, 2005

Tanzania, Africa; Minieres du Nord Mining (TSX:MDN) has reported that the Tulawaka Gold Mine in Tanzania has been successfully commissioned and has now reached commercial production. First feed to the SAG mill was on February 25th and 24hr./day operation started on March 5th, 2005. During the month of March overall plant availability was 82% and 31,592 tonnes were processed with an average recovery of 97.2% for a total of 6,505ozs. of actual gold production all above budget for the period.

Incredibly, 73% of the gold produced has been recovered by the gravity circuit consisting of two (2) fully automated Knelson KC-CD30 concentrators. The Tulawaka project is a joint venture between MDN Northern Mining (30%) and Pangea Goldfields (70%) a wholly-owned subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation. The successful start-up of Tulawaka brings the total number of Knelson Concentrators in operation at Barrick worldwide operations to fifteen including five (5) KC-XD48s, six (6) KC-CD30s, two (2) KC-XD30s, one (1) KC-XD20 and one (1) KC-CD12.
