Knelson Gravity Solutions and ConSep Pty Ltd. report that sales of their state of the art gravity recovery equipment in Australia and throughout the South Pacific region continue at a torrid pace, heading towards the end of 2004.
"It's been an incredible year" stated Grant Steward, ConSep's Managing Director, in a conference call from Sydney. "The market is responding to our range of gravity recovery equipment and services the likes of which we haven't seen since the boom times of the mid '90's."

Steward was referring to the stream of recent orders that have been received from the region including:
KCGM - The largest fully integrated gravity circuit in Australia, consisting of five (5) 300tph KC-XD48 concentrators and a CS6000 ConSep ACACIA. In addition to the main gravity circuit, KCGM also purchased a single KC-CD12 for plant test work.
Pt. Freeport Indonesia- The massive copper / gold producer added 2 more KC-XD48 concentrators for installation in their copper flotation regrind circuit bringing the total number of Knelson XD48 concentrators in operation to fourteen (14). The latest two units will be for recovery of fine gold from the flotation concentrate. The existing twelve (12) 300tph KC-XD48 concentrators are installed within the primary grinding circuit.
Lihir Mining Gold Ltd.- Located on Niolam Island, Papua New Guinea, this world class gold mine produces 600,000 ozs./year making it one of the largest in the region. Knelson Gravity Solutions and ConSep Pty. are teaming-up once again to supply a fully integrated gravity circuit consisting of two fully automated (2) KC-XD48 concentrators delivering concentrates to a CS3000 ConSep ACACIA.
OK Tedi Mine - Yet another of the regions major producers, OK Tedi will take delivery of two (2) KC-XD30 concentrators and two (2) 1.2 x 2.4 Knelson-Sizetec Vibrating Screens, to be installed in the fine gold flotation concentrator regrind circuit.
Penjom Gold Mine - The pride of the Malaysian gold industry. In August of this year this 100,000oz/year producer commissioned a single KC-XD48 which has replaced 12 other pieces of gravity equipment.
Copper Mines of Tasmania - After extensive site test work, the site has ordered a KC-XD30 concentrator for the fine gold flotation concentrate duty. Despite the site's relatively low gold head grade, the concentrator has a short payback due to a lowering of overall flotation tails grades.
Newmont Jundee - With the plant processing new ore, the site has elected to expand the gravity circuit, installing a second KC-CD30SS into the cyclone underflow stream. This plant includes a dual unit PLC system, where one ICS PLC controls both Knelson Concentrators.
Dominion Challenger - The Dominion site in South Australia purchased a new 50tph KC-CD20MS for their Challenger gold project.
A number of smaller units have been supplied to the region this year, including a KC-MD7.5 to Science and Medical in Indonesia and KC-MD3 units to the CSIRO and Optimet Laboratories.
Three major African projects have been engineered and awarded to Knelson/ConSep in Australia, including:
Red Back Chirano - Red Back Mining and Lycopodium, both located in Perth Western Australia, have purchased a single 300tph KC-XD48 for the Chirano Project located in Ghana.
Newmont Ahafo - Also engineered by Lycopodium in Perth, ConSep / Knelson have been awarded both gravity packages for this Newmont Project, including two (2) 300tph KC-XD48 concentrators and a CS2000 ConSep ACACIA, located in Ghana
Pangea Tulawaka - The Pangea project, which was engineered by Ausenco in Perth, purchased two (2) KC-CD30MS concentrators for the Tulawaka project, located in Tanzania.
In addition to these new machine orders for 2004, ConSep undertook major rebuild programs at Peak, St Ives and Sunrise Dam, where complete Knelson rotating assemblies were supplied as part of a rebuild program.
"Knelson has always considered the Australasian market as one of strategic importance, which is why Knelson established joint venture manufacturing with ConSep Pty. Ltd. over 15 years ago. With offices in both Perth and Sydney ConSep/Knelson can provide unsurpassed service and support to Australasia", stated Mike McLeavy, Knelson Gravity Solutions Territory Manager for Australasia.
The above sales are further confirmation that Knelson Gravity Solutions and ConSep Pty. Ltd. continue to dominate the Australasian market in the supply of world class gravity gold recovery circuits. Already the market leader with in excess of 90% market share based on total annual unit throughput, by the end of 2004, that figure will have climbed to 94% of this region which collectively contributes roughly 30% of global gold production. |
