This paper offers two very interesting perspectives; the first being that of the inventor of the Knelson Concentrator; Byron Knelson and the second is that of an end user; Ron Edwards of Metana Minerals.
Part one of the papers deals with the introduction and development of the Knelson Concentrator and provides invaluable insight into the reasons why the Knelson Concentrator is such an effective device in the recovery of fine free gold particles and part two discusses the successful implementation of the Knelson Concentrator in several jig-based alluvial recovery plants in the Howley region of Northern Australia.
"Production costs have not increased since the introduction of Knelson Concentrators but recoveries have increased by 35%. Currently there are nine (9) Knelson Concentrators in service. It is regrettable that their capabilities were not discovered two (2) years earlier as this would have saved having to re-treat 1 million LCM (loose cubic meters) of tailings." "I've been to several large copper mines that use Knelson concentrators. My understanding is that they are industry standard, so why use anything else?"
