Knelson Showcases ConSep ACACIA Reactor

Back to WHAT'S NEW

 March 26, 2003

LANGLEY, Canada - Knelson Gravity Solutions (KGS) recently hosted a large contingent of industry professionals to demonstrate the ConSep ACACIA Reactor CS3000 recently manufactured by Knelson for Placer Dome's Musselwhite Mine in Northwestern Ontario.

Placer Dome ordered the ConSep ACACIA CS3000 following extensive, and very successful, on-site pilot tests. "Currently, overall gravity recovery at Musselwhite averages about 22% of total gold production. Installing the ConSep ACACIA Reactor is expected to increase gravity production to 40%, and overall mill recovery by 0.2%" stated Dave Hall, Musselwhite's Metallurgical Coordinator.

Held at Knelson's manufacturing facility, delegates were given an informative overview of the ConSep ACACIA Reactor, followed by a live demonstration. "I was really pleased with the level of participation at this event, and the high interest expressed by our guests", said Sean Waller, Process Engineering Manager for KGS.

The ConSep ACACIA Reactor is a revolutionary, high efficiency leaching system that was developed to handle the high-grade concentrates produced by the Knelson Concentrator. The system is designed to maximize gold recovery from gravity concentrates and provides numerous process advantages over a conventional gold room. To date, orders for 15 ConSep ACACIA Reactors have been placed for global mining operations, four of which have been from Placer Dome.

Knelson manufactures and distributes the ConSep ACACIA Reactor in North America as part of a global marketing alliance with ConSep Pty. Ltd. of Australia. ConSep is Knelson's manufacturing partner in Australia and South-East Asia.

KGS is Knelson's technical services division and caters to clients requiring gravity concentration expertise and turnkey processing solutions. KGS provides gravity testing, circuit modeling, process development, detail engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning services for fully integrated modular gravity circuits worldwide. The year 2003 marks Knelson's 25th anniversary.
