ONTARIO, Canada - A ConSep ACACIA Reactor is paying large dividends at Placer Dome's Musselwhite Mine in Northern Ontario, Canada. Knelson Gravity Solutions (KGS) commissioned a ConSep CS 3000 ACACIA Reactor on April 21, 2003 for this 4,000 tpd gold mine.
The ACACIA arrived on site just prior to scheduled maintenance shut down. Installation was completed and the unit put on-line in only five days.
"The installation went very smoothly, and the unit performed right away. We have now had over nine months of operating experience, and there have been very few problems," according to Dave Hall, Senior Metallurgist for the mine.
Gravity recovery has increased an average of 68% since the installation of the ConSep ACACIA Reactor, and more importantly, overall mill recovery has increased by more than 0.5%.
"The ACACIA paid for itself before the end of 2003. Plans are in place to increase feed tonnage to the two Knelson XD30 Concentrators on site to allow the ACACIA to do more work up front. The communication and support with Knelson Gravity Solutions has been nothing less than outstanding," commented Hall.
KGS manufactures and distributes the ConSep ACACIA Reactor in North America as part of a global marketing alliance with ConSep Pty. Ltd. of Australia. KGS caters to clients requiring gravity concentration expertise and turnkey processing solutions. In addition to the manufacture and supply of its signature product, the Knelson Concentrator, the company provides gravity testing, circuit modeling, process development, detail engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and commissioning services for fully integrated modular gravity circuits worldwide. In 2003 Knelson celebrated 25 years of gravity concentration excellence.
